Public Transportation
Mission Statement: It is our mission to provide safe, reliable, affordable and efficient public transportation in Newton County.
Newton County Community Services' Public Transportation provides demand response, curb-to-curb public transportation service originating from Newton County. Out of county Transportation will be considered based on availability within 120 miles of Newton County between the hours of 8am-4pm Monday through Friday. Before and after hour transportation will be considered based on drivers availability. Out of state trips are not permitted. We have low fares that have not been increased, accept some insurance or have grant funding. All of our Public Transportation Services operates as a shared-ride service so it is common that passengers will be on board the vehicle with others who are traveling at the same time and in the same direction.

New Fare Rates Coming January 1, 2026 – Supporting Our Community Through Better Transportation
Newton County Community Services is proud to serve the people, families, and businesses of Newton County through our public transportation program. As part of our ongoing commitment to the community, we're updating our fare structure beginning January 1, 2026.
We remain committed to providing safe, reliable, and accessible transportation for Newton County residents. Our updated fare schedule offers reduced costs for shorter, local trips to help support area businesses, and adjusts rates for longer-distance travel to ensure continued service sustainability.
This change is part of our promise to keep transportation both cost-effective and dependable for the future. We know that reliable local transportation is more than just a ride — it's a connection to jobs, healthcare, shopping, family, and the many small businesses that make Newton County a wonderful place to live. With that in mind, we've worked hard to reduce costs for local, in-county trips so residents can continue to support and access the services close to home.
At the same time, we're updating fares for longer-distance trips to more accurately reflect the time, fuel, and resources required to keep our vehicles on the road. These adjustments will allow us to maintain and improve transportation options for everyone, while ensuring that our program remains strong and dependable for years to come.
We are deeply grateful for the support we receive from the Newton County community, and we look forward to continuing to serve you — whether you're traveling across town or across the region.
Thank you for riding with us and for helping us keep Newton County moving forward!
