THANK YOU DONORS!

YOUR SUPPORT MATTERS!

Your Generous Support Makes an Impact!

At Newton County Community Services, Inc., we are seeing a growing gap between community need and available resources—especially as Medicare benefits continue to shrink while our senior population grows. More older adults are relying on local services to remain healthy, nourished, and independent, and your support is critical to meeting that need.

We serve seniors, individuals with disabilities, and low-income families across rural Newton County through essential programs that improve health, stability, and quality of life. These include public transportation, energy assistance, food pantry services, senior nutrition sites, SHIP counseling, health education, grief support, and connections to local resources. Every service is designed to help people stay in their homes, manage chronic conditions, and live with dignity.

Fighting Food Insecurity in Rural Communities

Newton County experiences food insecurity at a rate 22.9% higher than the national average. Our food pantry and senior nutrition programs are often the last safety net for older adults facing reduced Medicare coverage and rising living costs. To help bridge this gap, we also operate a Community Garden at our Morocco location, providing fresh produce to supplement pantry items that are otherwise unavailable in our rural area.

Cash donations are especially impactful, allowing us to:

  • Purchase essential food and supplies at a discount rate

  • Meet required cash match for state and federal grants

  • Respond quickly to emerging needs among seniors and families

We also accept pantry donations and garden surplus at 102 E. State Street in DeMotte, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.

Transportation That Keeps People Healthy and Working

Access to transportation is often the difference between receiving care and going without. We currently provide over 700 rides each month for dialysis, cancer treatment, medical appointments, and employment. As demand rises, we are seeking support to upgrade our technology so we can reduce wait times, improve scheduling, and serve more riders.

Senior Nutrition & Social Connection

Our four senior nutrition sites provide far more than meals. They reduce loneliness, support mental health, and help seniors manage chronic illness through consistent, nutritious food and social engagement. As Medicare coverage declines, these programs are becoming essential to maintaining independent living for many older adults.

Investing in Health, Creativity, and Community

  • We provide office space for a HealthLinc family nurse practitioner, expanding access to affordable rural healthcare with Medicaid and sliding-scale options.

  • We are launching an Art Wall Program, giving seniors and community members a rotating space to share artwork and use creativity as a mental health outlet. We are currently seeking $2,500 to install a professional wall hanging system.

  • Community Cooking Education Classes – We are seeking support to launch hands-on cooking education for seniors and families, teaching affordable, nutritious meal preparation that supports chronic disease management, stretches limited food budgets, and builds confidence as Medicare and food benefits continue to decline.

  • We offer event sponsorship opportunities for businesses and individuals who want to give back while supporting local community events.

Your gift can be designated to the program you care most about, and every contribution directly strengthens services for our rural neighbors. All donations are tax-deductible, and every dollar helps us close the gap left by shrinking Medicare benefits and increasing need.

Thank you for partnering with us to support health, dignity, and opportunity in Newton County.
